Extra Table takes football (AND FOOD) to the Food Pantries

Extra Table is the partnership launched in 2009 by well-known restaurateur, Robert St. John, making a difference in the lives of Mississippians by fundraising in order to stock food pantries and soup kitchens across the state with wholesome, nutritious food.

TACKLE HUNGER is a football-themed giving campaign focusing on feeding our hungry neighbors in Mississippi during the holiday season. Football is one of the many traditions in American culture that is associated with Thanksgiving Day. Virtually every level of football, from amateur and high school to college and the NFL, plays football on Thanksgiving Day or the immediately following holiday weekend. Extra Table will be leveraging all things football from October 19th until November 27th to encourage Mississippians to donate to Extra Table in support of their statewide feeding efforts to end hunger in Mississippi.

SCORE BIG WITH A DONATION TO EXTRA TABLE… And Make It Count Twice

Extra Table and The First Bank are recruiting YOU to join our team by simply making a donation. 100 percent of all donations made to the TACKLE HUNGER campaign will purchase new and healthy food for Extra Table’s partnering food pantries and soup kitchens, while also being matched by The First Bank up to $30,000.

A TURKEY ON EVERY TABLE… Sponsor A Turkey with C Spire

Sponsor a turkey as a part of the TURKEY CHALLENGE for $15, and you will literally be placing a 10-12 pound Jennie-O turkey on the table of a family in need this holiday season. Text to donate a turkey with C Spire by texting FEEDS to 36413.

REAL MEN TACKLE HUNGER

Support the fundraising efforts of 20 professional businessmen, who are friends of Extra Table and have committed to each raising $1,000. These men who are throwing a flag on hunger will have their own peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, be asking friends, families and colleagues to support them by way of donation to Extra Table’s feeding efforts. Every dollar donated to the Real Men Tackle Hunger campaign will go directly to purchasing healthy, shelf-stable food for Extra Table’s partnering food pantries.

FOOTBALLS FOR FOOD ON DISPLAY THROUGHOUT MISSISSIPPI

Restaurants throughout Mississippi will hit the line of scrimmage with Extra Table’s football-themed tear sheets. You can make a donation, write your name on a paper football and then put it on display at the participating restaurant. Others can cheer on your charitable efforts, and volunteer to make a donation of their own to feed hungry Mississippians.

ADD A TACKLE HUNGER HELMET TO YOUR TROPHY CASE

A gallery of custom-painted football helmets so generously created by a curated group of Mississippi’s finest artists will be up for auction at Extra Table’s newest fundraising event, Bourbon Festival, on November 11, at Reunion Country Club in Madison, Mississippi. All helmet auction proceeds will be used to purchase new and healthy food for food pantry partners throughout Mississippi this holiday season. CORNER MARKET, YOU’RE A REAL MVP

Every Corner Market store in the state of Mississippi will be selling Extra Table paper soup cans for a $1 donation the week prior to Thanksgiving. At Extra Table, $1 feeds 5.9 healthy meals. By purchasing a paper can for display in store windows, donors will be making a difference in the fight against hunger in Mississippi.
