Casting Out Hunger One Broom at a Time
Invoking Your Inner Enchanter - Festivities of the Evening
Along with the usual fun of Fondren After Five, Extra Table's Witches Ride will rouse the Halloween spirit of Fondren businesses in decorating their storefronts to set the mood.
Accompanying their efforts will be:
- Bewitching Stations throughout Fondren prior to and after the Witches Ride
- The Hal & Mal's Decorated Pumpkin Contes in front of Duling Hall
- Mannsdale Animal Clinic's Barks and Boos's Pet Costume Showcase on Duling Avenue hosted by Dr. Carley Langston
- Sysco's Nourishing Neighbors program presents 25th Anniversary Screening of Hocus Pocus (location & time TBD)
- Fondren District Restaurants will be donating proceeds from the evenings food sales to Extra Table and offering really great specials to participating customers and Fondren After Five attendees
MISSION: Why We Ride
Extra Table is a non-profit organization with a mission to supply healthy food in bulk from our partner Sysco to Mississippi food pantries and soup kitchens so that our hungry neighbors can have nutritious, shelf-stable meals.
Simply put...Food pantries and soup kitchens are organizations who feed people. Extra Table supplies 32 food pantries and soup kitchens across 29 counties with food. We ride to raise funds for fellow Mississippians with limited access to food. Extra Table will direct all proceeds from The Witches Ride to food pantries and soup kitchens in the Jackson Metro Area.
WITCHES RIDE: $20

Mount your broom-cycle and beckon the Halloween season with the 2018 Witches Ride benefitting Extra Table! Join the coven of comrades - men and women, alike - on our short flight as we cast a spell of giving and gratitude through the Fondren District during October's Fondren After Five, 10/4. Broom-cycle in the shop? No worries! Walkers welcome, too! Help us conjure fun and festivity throughout Fondren!
***We are serious*** Put on your socks with stripes, a green nose, some glitz and glam - don't forget your big black hat! Dress up or down or have feathers all around. Make sure you have air in your tires (broom) so you can have wind in your sails.Location: TBD

BARKS & BOOS PET COSTUME SHOWCASE: $10

Summon a superhero! Make up a mermaid! Call forth a clown! The Barks & Boos Pet Costume Showcase will feature canines - and maybe some counterparts! - wearing the most fantasmic fashion in Fondren.
The Barks & Boos Pet Costume Showcase is sure to bewitch even Cruella, herself!
Barks & Boos Requirements:
- Leash; control at all times
- Current vaccines & good health status
- Non-aggressive, peaceable behavior
- Courtesy in pet clean-up
And the winner is... Awards announced at 6:15 on the Duling Avenue street stage

Painted, pierced, carved or covered in candy…The ground will quake as you drop your gourd and evil eyes will not forsake your talents in this decorating duel. Both kids and adult entries encouraged. 25th ANNIVERSARY SCREENING OF HOCUS POCUS:
(7:00P or as the sun sets)
FREE Family Fun
After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story from Allison as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches' book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.
